Country of residence: United Kingdom
Diving since:
2018
Level/agency of certification:
PADI IDC Staff instructor

Emmy Williams is a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, underwater photographer, and content creator originally from Cornwall, UK, who has spent the past six years teaching diving across four continents. Raised in southern Spain, she has worked as an instructor in Spain, Oman, New Zealand, and Honduras, and has collaborated with PADI, Girls That Scuba, and several dive brands along the way.

Her social media content focuses on the teaching side of diving, with how-to style videos aimed at making the sport more accessible and at representing women in the dive industry. She is currently based in Honduras, where she balances full-time instruction with building the platform she hopes will eventually take her to dive shows and dive destinations around the world.

In her own words, here is a little more about Emmy and what drives her in and out of the water.

How did you get into diving?

I grew up in the south of Spain, right by the beach. I would often see the scuba divers diving and I wanted to give it a go. So I did my DSD; from that moment I knew that it was something I wanted to do for a long time.

What is your most memorable underwater experience?

I have so many memories it’s hard to choose one but maybe while I was diving in New Zealand and a pod of dolphins joined us on the dive and followed us for a good 30 minutes.

What is your proudest professional moment?

Becoming an IDC Staff Instructor. For a long time I was happy where I was, but then my friend became a Platinum Course Director and that inspired me to go higher with my certifications.

And of course getting the opportunity to become a Cressi Ambassador was a massive accomplishment for me as I have loved the brand since I first started diving.

What do you wish more people understood about the ocean?

If there’s one thing I wish more people knew about the ocean, it’s just how much it’s suffering because of us. So many people see the ocean as endless, but it isn’t. Coral reefs are being damaged by climate change, pollution, and careless human activity.

Marine life is becoming entangled in plastic or mistaking it for food, while overfishing is disrupting entire ecosystems. Our culture of overconsumption creates enormous amounts of waste, much of which eventually ends up in the sea.

The ocean provides us with so much, we should be doing everything we can to protect it.

What advice would you give to a new diver?

Never stop improving. I believe every dive can be a training dive. I see too many divers get their certification and then just go on dives. You should always be taking the opportunity to improve your diving techniques.

What is your favorite piece of Cressi gear and why?

I absolutely love my Z2 mask; I have always used Cressi masks throughout my diving career. I think they fit really well and they have some cool colors. I also love my compact regulator because it’s super-easy to travel with.

What does being a Cressi ambassador mean to you?

I’ve been a fan of Cressi ever since I started diving, so becoming a Cressi Ambassador is something I’m genuinely proud of. It’s more than just using great equipment—it’s about representing a brand that I trust every time I get in the water. I love being able to share that confidence with others, whether it’s through teaching, guiding, or simply showing people how reliable and comfortable the gear is.

I’m constantly getting compliments on my equipment, and it’s always nice to be able to say, “It’s Cressi.” Being an ambassador gives me the opportunity to represent a brand I truly believe in while encouraging more people to explore and fall in love with the underwater world.
